Travelling by 4WD is one of the most versatile ways to explore Australia. You can tour through highways and sleep in small villages or cities. Another option is to choose for adventure and visit the most remote part of Australia through dirt roads and tracks. With a 4WD you have more freedom to travel wherever you would like to, as many places are only reachable by off-road vehicle. When planning your trip be aware that many touristic attractions in the Eastern coast are reachable by 2WD, in opposite with western-Australia and Northern-Territory, places with plenty of dirt roads ad 4WD-tracks. Southern-Australia is too an overwhelming 4WD destination, take for example the Flinders Ranges. With your off-road vehicle it is possible to visit almost unexplored ponds, cliffs, abandoned Outback cities and other magnificent places that are hidden in the extended country-side. The adventure is calling……

A 4WD offers some advantages in relation to a 2WD car/camper:

For a 2WD there are road restrictions for driving on unsealed roads.
With a 4WD vehicle you can drive on gravel/dirt roads and tracks.
Many National Parks and other beautiful locations are only reachable by 4WD.
It is possible to take shorter routes through secondary tracks, e.g. the Tanami Road.
With a 4WD it's allowed to drive on beaches.
