Vehicle Insurance Excess

Registration Third Party Insurance covers Personal Injury in most cases; however, Campabout OZ Pty Ltd recommends that all clients take out Personal Injury Travel Insurance. All damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party is fully covered by insurance. The first $4,500.00 or $1000 (“the excess") of the cost of damage to Third Party property or to the rented vehicle is the hirer's responsibility (includes single vehicle accident, windscreen and/or tyre damage new replacements, overhead and/or underbody damage, towing and/or recovery costs, vehicle theft, fire or break-in). Also included in this expense is the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is unavailable due to accident repairs.

Exclusions:

  1. The above mentioned options do not cover vehicle damage caused by water submersion or salt water damage.

  2. Regardless of the option taken, the hirer is responsible for any costs involved when retrieving or recovering a vehicle that has become bogged.

  3. Regardless of the option taken, should a tyre puncture occur on the 2WD campervan when not driving on a sealed road, the hirer is responsible for any costs involved with retrieving or recovering the vehicle and changing/repairing the tyre(s).

  4. Personal belongings are not covered by insurance and it is recommended that the hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle unattended and that personal insurance is obtained.

  5. The above mentioned options are null and void should the terms of the Rental Agreement be breached. The total cost of any damage is the hirer's responsibility. This includes any damage caused by wilful conduct and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  6. The above mentioned options do not cover the mistaken use of diesel or petrol fuel. The hirer is responsible for any associated cost.

Restrictions

It is allowed to travel in all Australian States, inclusive Tasmania and Kangaroo Island. Sometimes due to weather conditions travelling to certain regions is difficult, therefore it is possible to encounter restrictions and when it is the case alternative routes must be seek. With a campervan is only permitted to rive in asphalted roads. All insurance terms and conditions are not applicable to gravelled roads. In that case, the renter is responsible for eventual complications.

Damage and/or Defect

It is not allowed to the vehicle to contact salt water in any way. Further damages result of this action is always responsibility of the renter.

The renter is responsible for all damage on the top as well as the bottom of the vehicle. In almost all cases damage is caused by driving in gravelled roads or camping underneath so-called gum trees. Big eucalyptus trees are known for suddenly dropping branches even though there is no wind at all. Therefore we recommend not to stop the campervan under a gum tree.

In case of an accident, the renter is due to report to the rental company. It is also advisable to contact the local authorities, even if it is single car accident, e.g. accidents with animals. Such incidents are easy to be avoided by driving only with daylight. Please find a suitable camping place on time.

The renter is due to call the rental company in case of mechanical or engine failure.

Restitution

No refund will take place in case of delivering the vehicle before the agreed time.
The first as well as the last day of rent will be completely charged.

Cancellation

With the exception of extraordinary cases the following amounts will be subtracted from the pre-payments, as follows:

Changes of vehicles

We preserve the right, under certain circumstances, to change the reserved camper in a similar model. In this situation the contract remains intact and will not lead to restitution.

Driving under influence

It is strictly forbidden to drive any vehicle under influence of alcohol, drugs or medications. In those cases, all damages caused are going to be responsibility of the renter, thus also not in the case of total-loss declarations.

Traffic Fines

All fines gotten in the rental period are going to be charged from the renter, upon delivery on even several weeks later.

Locking Up

Even though crime rates in Australia are tremendously low it is always sensible to remove all valuable possessions of the vehicle and lock it properly. Stolen artefacts are neither the responsibility of the insurance company nor ours.
